Afternoon all!!! It’s Tuesday and on a Tuesday I love to talk all things beauty and fashion, especially after a long wonderful weekend off, with generally lots going on and lots to talk about… Emmy Awards, Carnival, it’s all been happening….However what has really caught my eye in the press over the weekend is the new Selfie Makeup Craze….saaaay Whaaaat??
A nation so obsessed with Selfie’s that we now have Makeup brands formulating ‘Selfie Makeup’
I CAN actually get my head around this, it makes sense, 17 million of us are uploading Selfies every day and what with iconic celebrities such as Cheryl Fernandez Versini (uber cool name) Kim Kardashian and Beyonce uploading pictures of themselves looking FABtastic, of course we all want to look like that and why not?! Although we don’t all have a Makeup Artist on hand along with a Hair Stylist and whomever else celebrities’ bank balances cover to help them look so AMAZING and perfect in every Selfie they take!
However, have no fear as ‘selfie Makeup’ is here! Along with heaps of online video tutorials to assist you! So thanks to Avon who have launched the Ultra Colour Bold Lipstick, you too can have that perfect pout Like the gorgeous Kim Kardashian, or could this just be clever marketing? Hmmmmm…
Its claim… The UK’s first #nofilter Lippy that promises to give you that HD Finish… and its only £7.50! Who doesn’t want one?! It’s Available in 10 shades and is formulated with Avon’s new exclusive Pigment Loading Technology giving you a lipstick that explodes with bold, bright colour!!
Sounds great, and I’ve no doubt that the formula is that of one that works better in pictures and at such a fab price… I do love Avon, but as a Celebrity Makeup Artist I feel I should share my professional view. I use makeup from all brands for the exact same reason, to make people look their best in a picture or on camera/HD. I Haven’t as yet come across ‘Selfie’ makeup… that’s because there is no such thing really, its clever from Avon, I mean there is an instant market of 17 million, however don’t get to caught up! I love the idea and product but I’d also suggest buying any highly pigmented products for colour, Sleek have a great range also at reasonable prices along with Rimmel, if you want to splash out abit more, then MAC, Clinique and YSL all have amazing selection of colour bursting Lippies! My advice for ‘Selfies’ is always prime skin, eyes and lips for the product to sit perfectly onto it without the skin soaking it up for full colour effect. A good application with the right tools will give you the desired results I promise!
